Russian Navy frigates will protect oil tankers: not only in the English Channel

Measures to escort the merchant fleet were developed at a meeting of the Maritime Board

A frigate of the Black Sea Fleet escorted tankers with Russian oil when passing through the English Channel. To ensure the national interests of the Russian Federation may take other measures, said the head of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev.

He noted that the Russian side emphasized the unacceptability of actions to seize Russian merchant ships, but is ready to apply political, diplomatic and other measures.

Last week, a frigate of the Black Sea Fleet escorted tankers with Russian oil through the English Channel.
