Evolute i-Joy Assembled in Russia Becomes More Popular Than Chinese Zeekr 001

The electric car remains the sales leader for the fourth consecutive month - 803 cars were sold in the quarter

In the first quarter of 2026, 2272 electric vehicles were sold in Russia — 22.5% more than in the same period last year, according to Sergey Tselikov, head of the Avtostat agency.

Evolute i-Joy has been leading for the fourth consecutive month: 803 units, which is more than 35% of the market. Geely EX5 (205 units), Evolute i-Sky (103), Xiaomi YU7 (102) follow with a large gap. Zeekr 001, once the leader of the segment, closes the top five — only 89 units. Sales of this model fell by 4.7 times: a year ago, 414 Zeekr electric vehicles were registered during the same period.

According to Tselikov, the reason for the fall is changes in the procedure for paying the recycling fee and a significant increase in prices. In addition, those who wanted a "fashionable expensive electric toy" have already satisfied their interest — the same situation was with Tesla before.

The main demand for electric vehicles is now concentrated in the price range up to 3 million rubles, but there are very few offers there. That is why, Tselikov notes, Evolute i-Pro, Amber A5, and now Evolute i-Joy "shot".
