One of the last Il-62s is being returned to the sky: the aircraft is being prepared for flights

The rare long-range aircraft has been idle since 2021

In Belarus, the restoration of one of the few remaining Il-62Ms has begun. The aircraft is planned to be returned to flights and used in the Rada Airlines cargo airline.

We are talking about the EW-564TR aircraft, which has been in storage since 2021. It made its first flight back in 1993.

The Telegram channel "Ot Vinta" clarified that the aircraft is being restored for further operation within the company, without being transferred to third-party operators.

The Il-62 also attracts attention with its past: previously, the aircraft was used in the interests of the government of Gambia, which was reflected in its livery.

According to various estimates, there are only a few Il-62s left in the world in flight condition. They are no longer used in passenger transportation due to high fuel consumption and maintenance costs.

The aircraft is equipped with four D-30KU engines and is designed for a flight range of up to 10 thousand kilometers.
