Ultra-Fast Chip for Space and Aviation Created at DSTU: Gallium Arsenide Cascade Withstands High Temperatures

New circuit opens the way for reliable electronics in extreme conditions

Employees of the Don State Technical University (DSTU) have applied for a patent for a new electronic component — a gallium arsenide amplifier. Such devices are used in communication systems, computer technology, instruments and automation, including where it is necessary to work at high temperatures.

The main advantage of the development is that it works better with strong signals. This is achieved through a special circuit: it uses field and bipolar transistors, special resistors, and a reference current source.

Thanks to this circuit, the amplifier becomes faster and more stable. This is especially important for equipment that operates in extreme conditions — for example, in space, in aviation, or on oil and gas equipment.
