AI Learns to Assess Human Creativity in Minutes Thanks to SUSU Scientists

AI Analyzed Data from 3007 Russians for the Torrance Test

Scientists from SUSU and the Institute of Psychology of the Russian Academy of Sciences have trained an AI to analyze creativity using the Torrance Test. According to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, artificial intelligence provides results in minutes instead of hours of manual processing.

The database was collected from 3007 Russians — previously, the Torrance Test was only used for children and adolescents up to 17 years old. The AI assesses six parameters: originality, fluency, flexibility, elaboration, abstractness of the title, and resistance to closure. Anyone can already take the test on a special portal and get the results online.

Creativity is becoming a key advantage for employers. Western analogues of automated assessment are often closed or paid. The Russian development is free and removes routine from psychologists. SUSU is already expanding the test, taking into account the cultural code and personal characteristics.
