Russia Sends Batch of BMP-3 to Africa for Free

The army of Madagascar received infantry fighting vehicles

Russia has transferred weapons and military equipment to the army of Madagascar. The ceremony of transferring military-technical assistance took place on April 1 in Antananarivo.

The delivery on a gratuitous basis included two units of BMP-3 armored vehicles and ammunition for them, small arms, as well as sets of equipment and individual armor protection.

President of the transitional period of Madagascar, Mikael Randrianirina, noted that the transfer of weapons took place within the framework of an agreement between the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Malagasy side.

The last official delivery of BMP-3 to the Russian military took place in February 2026.

Each vehicle was equipped with a modern electronic warfare system, the armor resistance of the rear and front parts was also increased, and the protection of the bottom from undermining was enhanced.
