Wildberries is building a digital fortress: the second data center launched in Dubna

A data center the size of a field will keep the marketplace under load

Wildberries & Russ (RVB) is strengthening its infrastructure — the company has commissioned its second own data processing center in Dubna, near Moscow. The new facility should withstand peak loads and become the basis for further growth of the marketplace's services.

The scale of the project is impressive: more than 5.5 thousand square meters — about the size of a football field. Inside there are five machine rooms, power units, generators and separate areas for the warehouse and admin section. Everything is assembled on a modular principle in order to quickly scale capacity if necessary.

The data center is designed for 504 racks and can accommodate up to 8.6 thousand servers. The total IT capacity is almost 6 MW. Six diesel generators are responsible for stability, and energy efficiency is maintained at 1.1–1.15 PUE — this is an indicator of modern data centers.

But the main thing is not the numbers, but why it is needed.

The marketplace lives on constant load: millions of users, sellers, orders and transactions per second. Any failure means money, reputation and dissatisfied customers. The new data center is insurance against such scenarios.

In addition, infrastructure is needed for the development of internal services — from logistics and recommendations to AI-based solutions, which are increasingly influencing what the user sees and buys.

This is the company's second own data center: the first was launched in Elektrostal in 2023. Construction of the new facility in Dubna began in the summer of 2024 — and now it is becoming part of a large strategy: to keep key infrastructure under its control.

In fact, Wildberries is gradually turning not just into a marketplace, but into a full-fledged technological platform — with its own "digital base" designed for growth.
