Azimuth, a leading Russian developer of communication and navigation systems for civil aviation (part of Rostec), has installed an RMP-200 radio beacon at Makhachkala Airport. This was reported by the press service of the state corporation.
RMP-200 helps aircraft accurately approach for landing in mountainous terrain, and also provides stable "ground-to-air" voice communication.
The device transmits course information and can operate as a long-range and short-range non-directional beacon or a separate radio station.
Previously, a Doppler VOR DVOR 2000/DME/N 2700 radio beacon was installed in the capital of Dagestan. Together with the RMP-200, they form an advanced navigation infrastructure.
The RMP-200 radio beacon is designed to emit high-frequency (HF) oscillations of one of the frequencies in the range of 190 - 1750 kHz to determine the course angle of the aircraft relative to its installation location. The equipment (except for the antenna) is placed in a container or in stationary heated structures. The average technical resource — is about 100,000 hours, the service life is up to 15 years.
