Drones noticeably upgraded: young Russian engineers have implemented smart navigation

The algorithm rebuilds the route in flight and saves up to 30% of the charge

Russian developers have made drones noticeably "smarter" - and this immediately affected their autonomy. The youth engineering team "Digital Galaxy" has created an algorithm that allows drones to spend a third less energy during flight.

The key is in navigation. The new software does not just plot a route, but constantly recalculates it in real time. If conditions change - for example, the wind increases or an obstacle appears - the system instantly rebuilds the flight path, choosing the most energy-efficient path.

Unlike most solutions, the algorithm takes into account weather factors, including wind force, which is especially important for long-distance flights. This allows the drone not to fight the conditions, but to work "according to the situation", saving charge.

In addition, the drone can independently bypass obstacles, and if it loses contact with the operator, it can safely land without external intervention.

The development also has a self-learning function: the algorithm is trained in a virtual environment and can adapt to different types of drones and any landscapes.

The project was created within the framework of the federal program "Personnel for unmanned aircraft systems" with the participation of "University 2035".
