Evgeny Kuznetsov, General Director of the Digital Evolution Ventures venture fund, stated the need for an urgent start to work on mining minerals on the Moon. In his opinion, the Earth's natural satellite is capable of becoming the foundation for the formation of a new space economy. The specialist emphasized that refusing to participate in the lunar race creates risks of strategic lagging of the country in key technologies and space exploration.
A new mega-race is now beginning - the industrial development of the Moon, the extraction of metals, the production of structures. This again sounds like science fiction, and again no one is seriously moving to get involved in the lunar race, at best - plans to repeat the successes of the 1960s or make components of the Chinese program. But the Moon is the basis of the space economy of the future. Refusal to develop it will lead to Russia's strategic lag behind other countries in space exploration
Kuznetsov noted that the main barrier to the development of the direction lies not in the shortage of engineering personnel or physicists. The main difficulty lies in managerial thinking. Russia successfully solves complex technical problems, but poorly recognizes exponential changes. Management often does not make early bets on technologies that at first seem overly risky or unrealistic.
