Through Trenches and a High-Speed Track: BMP-2 Used at Tankodrome in Altai Krai

Russian motorized riflemen improved their driving skills of infantry fighting vehicles

Soldiers of the motorized rifle formation of the Central Military District (CMD) practiced driving BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles at a training ground in the Altai Territory. This was reported in the press service of the district.

Before the exercises, the BMP-2 driver-mechanics passed a test on the rules of driving equipment.

The servicemen practiced maneuvering techniques on a high-speed track, performed turns and U-turns of varying difficulty, and overcame ravines, artificial and natural obstacles.

The training took place at a tankodrome with anti-tank ditches, ascents, descents, slopes, trenches, funnels, track bridges and railway platforms. About 30 servicemen were involved in the maneuvers.

Motorized rifle troops are the most numerous branch of the Ground Forces of the Russian Armed Forces. Motorized riflemen conduct combat operations on land using infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers.

BMP-2 is a tracked combat vehicle designed to transport personnel. The special equipment was developed at the Special Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering (SKBM) in Kurgan. Since 1980, it has been operated by more than 15 countries, including Kazakhstan, Vietnam and Algeria. The BMP-2 is equipped with a 2A42 30 mm caliber cannon and a 7.62 mm caliber PKT machine gun.
