Futurologist Evgeny Kuznetsov explained why all of humanity should explore Mars. According to him, colonizing the Red Planet will help improve the climate on Earth. The CEO of the Digital Evolution Ventures fund believes that funds for the project will be found after 2050. The necessary amount of funding should be sought not only in the space industry, but also in nuclear energy.
Terraforming Mars is still too technologically and financially complex, but with the current rate of progress, the cost of the process may become a reality after 2050. The most difficult question here is not technical, but economic: why terraform Mars at all? If you look at it as a housing and resettlement market, the economics are not yet visible. But if you look at Mars as a laboratory for managing the climate of planets, the logic changes.
Kuznetsov added that there is no exact estimate yet. The expert explained that the budget can be formed through energy transition and thermonuclear industry projects. He sees a connection between space tasks and the development of terrestrial infrastructure without being rigidly tied to rocket technologies.
The specialist urged not to separate space from development tasks and to use it as a space for technology growth. Kuznetsov added that creating gardens on another planet will become a prologue to turning Earth into a blooming garden. He recommended perceiving the exploration of the universe as a tool to improve the comfort of life for earthlings.
