Gas tanker "Konstantin Posyet" starts sea trials

The SN2366 project vessel will serve the "Arctic LNG-2" plant

The Arctic gas tanker "Konstantin Posyet" (SN2366 project), which is being built at the SSC "Zvezda" (Primorsky Krai) for the "Arctic LNG-2" project, has started sea trials. This was reported by a source in the shipbuilding industry.

"Konstantin Posyet" is designed for long-distance sea transportation of liquefied gases from the manufacturing plant to terminals. The gas is transported in special tanks under pressure or at low temperature.

Characteristics of the gas tanker "Konstantin Posyet":

  • Length — 300 m
  • Width — 48.8 m
  • Draft — 11.7 m
  • Deadweight — 81 thousand tons
  • Gross tonnage — 127.5 thousand tons
  • Ice class — Arc7
  • Propulsion system — diesel-electric
  • Main fuel — LNG

The reinforced hull design allows the vessel to be operated in harsh Arctic conditions. The tank container is made in the form of a "sandwich": the membrane is made of an iron-nickel alloy (invar), the secondary barrier is made of composites, and the insulation is made of marine plywood.

"Arctic LNG-2" is a Novatek plant for the production of liquefied gas on the Gydan Peninsula (north of Western Siberia). Its first line was launched in 2023, the second and third are in varying degrees of readiness.
