A new gas chemical production facility of Azot Group will appear in Vorkuta — investments in the project will amount to 200 billion rubles, according to Deputy Chairman of the Komi Government Larisa Maksimova. Currently, the financial and economic model of the project is undergoing approval at VEB.RF.
This is a large-scale project with an implementation period of about five years. It will create 640 additional jobs in the region, and taking into account the work of related enterprises and social infrastructure — about 2,000 jobs.
The plant will produce ammonia and urea, with launch scheduled for 2031. The design capacity is 1.2 million tons of ammonia and 1.7 million tons of urea per year. To export the products, it is planned to build 200 km of railway and a port in the village of Ust-Kara (Nenets Autonomous Okrug).
Azot Group is one of the largest producers of mineral fertilizers in Russia. The company already operates in Eastern Siberia, Tatarstan, and Bashkiria, and is also building a plant in the Volgograd special economic zone "Khimprom."
