Russian military personnel have begun testing a new ground robotic complex (GRC) "Uran-3", designed for assault and engineering-sapper units. The tracked drone can make passages in obstacles and destroy anti-personnel mines.
The complex includes a KamAZ vehicle and three robotic devices. The drones are located in the vehicle body. The operator controls the device remotely, and can follow it at a distance of hundreds of meters.
A large-caliber machine gun has been installed on the "Uran-3", which can provide cover for assault troops, explained military analyst Yuri Lyamin.
Initially, the demining complexes were unarmed. And in the event that they came under fire, they had no physical ability to shoot back. With a machine gun, they will be able to protect themselves.
After the tests, the developers will make changes to the design, and then the complex will begin to enter the troops. "Uran-3" is ideal for steppe regions, added military expert Vasily Dandykin.
