Defying Sanctions: France Increases Purchases of Russian Titanium to Historic High

The amount of supplies reached 129.9 million euros - the maximum since 1992

France increased its imports of titanium from Russia to a record high in 2025, RIA Novosti calculated based on Eurostat data.

Last year, French importers brought in 129.9 million euros worth of Russian titanium, which is 19.6% more than the year before (108.6 million euros). As specified by the agency, these figures became record highs since 1992. Eurostat does not provide earlier data.

In addition to France, four other EU countries have maximized their imports of Russian titanium in recent years. Estonia purchased titanium for 4.9 million euros — the best result since 2017. Austria and Romania reached their maximums since 2022: 3.3 million and 1.2 million euros, respectively. Poland updated its record since 2023, importing titanium for 130.7 thousand euros.
