The drone has been modernized for remote mining tasks: it has an additional camera to control drops and two ammunition compartments. Each compartment holds up to three kilograms of payload. In one flight, "Molniya" can drop 24 small anti-personnel mines and about 50–60 spikes.

The American magazine Popular Mechanics compared "Molniya" with the Kalashnikov assault rifle in the world of drones — a cheap, reliable and mass weapon that can spread quickly.
