The Russian "Molniya" fixed-wing drone has received a new combat function — it is now capable of installing anti-personnel mines, according to the Telegram channel "Bespilot".
The drone has been modernized for remote mining tasks: it has an additional camera to control drops and two ammunition compartments. Each compartment holds up to three kilograms of payload. In one flight, "Molniya" can drop 24 small anti-personnel mines and about 50–60 spikes.
Earlier it was reported that the drone can also be equipped with a high-explosive fragmentation or thermobaric warhead, as well as equipment for simulating air targets. The American magazine Popular Mechanics compared "Molniya" with the Kalashnikov assault rifle in the world of drones — a cheap, reliable and mass weapon that can spread quickly.
