Astronomers recorded a powerful solar flare on February 12. This was reported by the press service of the Institute of Applied Geophysics, FGBU \"IPG\".
At 05:40 Moscow time, in the X-ray range, an M1.4 flare lasting 21 minutes was recorded in sunspot group 4367 (N11W88).
Specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of IKI and ISZF also reported that the geomagnetic situation on February 12 remains calm, with only minor disturbances observed. A small coronal hole that formed on the Sun may begin affecting Earth in 3-4 days.
The overall characteristic of the situation is very simple — everything is falling downward. The star, at least until the end of the week, will be exceptionally boring.
Flare activity still remains at the same level. Over the past day, three M-class explosions were recorded on the Sun. All events were observed in sunspot group 4366. But this region completely disappeared beyond the horizon during the night, so no new powerful flares are forecast until the end of the day.
