Reason for possible Telegram slowdown revealed in the State Duma

State Duma Committee on Information Policy: Messenger does not comply with about 70% of RKN requirements

Roskomnadzor's actions to possibly restrict Telegram's operation would be justified, as the service does not comply with Russian law, Andrei Svintsov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, told TASS.

Earlier, RBC, citing sources, reported that the agency could allegedly begin to partially restrict the messenger's operation from February 10, and measures to slow it down are already being taken. Roskomnadzor has not yet commented on this information.

Telegram outage chart on February 10

Svintsov specified that the messenger, in particular, does not block fake channels. He suggested that Telegram create a legal entity in Russia to operate in the Russian jurisdiction.
