Peruvian authorities have annulled a contract for the supply of an An-74 transport aircraft after a large-scale fraudulent scheme was uncovered.
The intermediary company Aero Express FZE, registered in the UAE, offered the aircraft using forged documents. The intermediary claimed to be acting on behalf of the manufacturer, but had no rights to supply the equipment or access to its production.
After receiving official confirmation from the manufacturer, it became known that Aero Express FZE was not authorized to sell An-74 aircraft. In addition, the serial production of the An-74 was discontinued more than ten years ago.
Based on this data, the $63 million contract was completely canceled.
The An-74 transport aircraft was developed on the basis of the An-72 at the Antonov Design Bureau. It was created for operation in the conditions of the Far North.
The An-74 can carry up to 7.5 tons of cargo at an altitude of up to 10,100 m with a cruising speed of 550-700 km/h. Civilian modifications of the An-74 are operated in the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, military ones - in Egypt, Iran, Turkmenistan.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Peru chose Aero Express FZE (UAE) as the winner of the tender to purchase an An-74 transport aircraft for the National Police of Peru.
