Russian tourists in Cuba face flight delays due to refueling problems

All planes return with technical stops

Russian tourists returning from Cuba are facing flight delays of two to five hours due to refueling problems. According to the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST), there are no complete flight cancellations, all flights are operated with technical stops for refueling, including in Havana.

Dmitry Gorin, Vice President of RST, told "Business FM" that the delays affected about 600 people. According to him, delays of two to five hours are currently being recorded. However, all flights are operating.

Natalia Strelkova, a Russian guide in Havana, noted that tourists did not express dissatisfaction, but confirmed serious power outages on the island: in some areas, outages last up to 28 hours. At the same time, according to her, the authorities provide priority supply to resort areas in order not to disrupt the operation of the hotel business.

The situation worsened after US President Donald Trump signed a decree imposing duties against countries supplying oil to Cuba. In Havana, these measures were called a "total blockade." Nevertheless, according to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, 99% of the tourist flow is transported by Russian airlines, and fuel problems are of a local technical nature, without affecting the overall stability of flights.
