Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket launched a classified satellite of the Ministry of Defense into orbit

The launch was carried out from the Plesetsk cosmodrome

On the evening of February 5, the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket launched a spacecraft into the calculated orbit in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defense from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region. The launch proceeded as normal, the department said.

After the launch, the Soyuz-2.1b medium-class carrier rocket was taken over by the ground-based automated control system of the Main Test Space Center named after German Titov.

This is the first Russian space launch in 2026.

The United Engine Corporation stated that in 2025, ODK-Kuznetsov rocket engines were used in 13 launches of Soyuz-2 family carrier rockets.
