Against the backdrop of growing debates about privacy in messengers, Telegram founder Pavel Durov once again emphasized the company’s unwavering position on data protection. According to his statement, over the more than 12 years of the platform’s existence, there has not been a single case of transferring data about users’ correspondence to third parties, including government agencies.
Throughout its entire history, Telegram has not disclosed a single byte of messaging data to third parties.
As Durov noted, Telegram would rather cease operations than violate the principles of confidentiality. This statement came in response to questions about possible changes in the privacy policy that occurred in 2024.
Telegram is a cross-platform messenger developed in 2013 by brothers Pavel and Nikolai Durov. The number of unique users (MAU) in the app reached 105 million people in November 2025.
