Workers at the Baltic Shipyard will complete construction of the Project 22220 nuclear icebreaker "Chukotka" in 2026. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev.

Trutnev also revealed plans to modernize the rescue fleet on the Northern Sea Route (NSR), which connects the European part of Russia and the Far East and passes through the Arctic Ocean. In 2026, 11 vessels are planned to be commissioned. A year earlier, 5 vessels were commissioned.

In addition, the authorities intend to improve maritime logistics in the northern region. According to the deputy prime minister, in 2025, 3.5 million tons of cargo were transported via the NSR, including more than 400 thousand tons of cargo between the ports of the Russian Federation and Asian countries.
