In January 2026, 91.4 thousand new vehicles were sold in Russia, which is 11% less than in January of last year. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Sales of domestically produced cars increased to 54 thousand units, which is 3% more than in 2025, while sales of foreign cars fell by 25%, amounting to 37 thousand units.
Passenger cars in January 2026 were sold in the amount of 81,942 units, which is 7% less compared with January 2025. Sales of light commercial vehicles amounted to 5,633 vehicles (a decrease of 28%), trucks — 3,248 units (a decline of 39%), and buses — 597 units (a drop of 25%).
In January 2026, Russians purchased 990 new electric vehicles, which is 30% more compared with the beginning of 2025. The share of electric vehicles produced in Russia increased over the year from 21% to 30%.
