Scammers have turned to knowledge: personal data has started being stolen from online teachers

Pseudo-students are sending tutors fake links

Scammers have developed a new method of deceiving teachers who conduct classes online. Posing as students, they sign up with tutors and, under various pretexts, force them to click through to fake websites. The goal of the criminals is to steal the email data of future victims.

The fake link is sent under the guise of connection problems, an inability to hear the other person, and so on. The victim, unsuspecting of the deception, goes to a phishing site where they enter login credentials, for example, for Zoom. Such resources often require authorization via a Google account.

By entering their personal data, the victim effectively hands it over to the scammers, and the criminals gain access to all resources linked to the specified email address.

It is important to remain vigilant and cautious on the internet and not click links from unfamiliar users. Cybersecurity experts advise always checking who you are communicating with online.
