Roscosmos to Move Production of Angara Strategic Missiles from Moscow

Now the rockets will be fully assembled in Omsk

The production of Angara family launch vehicles will be completely moved from the Moscow site of the Khrunichev Center to Omsk. This was announced by Dmitry Baranov, Deputy General Director of Roscosmos for rocket projects.

According to him, the program has already been agreed with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Defense. This decision will significantly reduce the cost, Baranov noted.

The transfer is gradual, it has already been partially done, because the light "Angara" is being made in Omsk today. And the first and second stages of the heavy "Angara" are also being made in Omsk.

Baranov recalled that Moscow is now producing the upper stages of the heavy "Angara", booster units and head fairings.

Almost half of the parts in the engines of Angara rockets are created using additive technologies, said Dmitry Bakanov, General Director of Roscosmos.

As part of the work on additive technologies, a number of transformations were carried out, which made it possible to reduce the mass of the engine by 15%. And 45% of the parts are already created on the basis of additive technologies.

"Angara" is a family of modular launch vehicles created on the basis of universal rocket modules with oxygen-kerosene engines.
