Modernized EOS-O Remote Sensing Satellite Control Station Launched by NTI Fund

The solution combines data reception and spacecraft control in one complex

The first modernized ground station for receiving and transmitting data from EOS-O Earth remote sensing spacecraft has been put into operation in Russia. The development is being implemented with the support of the Foundation for Assistance to Projects of the National Technology Initiative (NTI).

Modernization within the framework of the project with geographically dispersed stations will ensure their redundancy and allow for more efficient reception of target information and telemetry from spacecraft, as well as laying target designations on board the spacecraft for further shooting of the area of interest to remote sensing data consumers

The new station operates in the X-band frequency range and provides reception of target information, telemetry and service data, as well as transmission of control commands to the spacecraft. A key feature of the solution is the combination of data reception and transmission functions in one complex, which allows simultaneous communication in the "space - Earth" and "Earth - space" directions.

According to the NTI Fund, the station's architecture is focused on reducing the operating costs of the ground segment of satellite systems. The integration of communication channels increases the reliability of orbital constellation control and simplifies infrastructure scaling for new spacecraft.

The fund notes that the growth in remote sensing data volumes requires more efficient ground-based solutions for their reception, processing and subsequent analysis. The launch of the modernized station should increase the technological stability of domestic satellite systems and reduce the total cost of their operation.
