The authorities of the Kaliningrad region, the westernmost region of Russia, are planning to launch direct flights between Kaliningrad and Dubai. This was announced by the head of the Agency for International and Interregional Relations of the region, Alexander Kalkuta.
According to him, negotiations are underway with the Emirati side on specific steps to organize the flight. Currently, there are only two international destinations operating in Kaliningrad — Minsk and Sharm el-Sheikh. Kalkuta noted that the new flight will allow it to be used both by residents of the region and to attract foreign tourists.
He emphasized that the arrival of guests from the Persian Gulf countries will give a new impetus to the development of the tourism sector, investment and the region's economy as a whole, as it will allow foreigners to personally get acquainted with the Kaliningrad region.
