The modernized fourth power unit of Surgut GRES-2, owned by the company Unipro, has begun supplying electric capacity to the wholesale market. This was reported by the System Operator.
During the modernization, key equipment components at the unit were replaced, which made it possible to improve its technical and economic performance and reliability. The installed capacity of the power unit increased by 20 MW, to 830 MW. The station's total installed capacity reached 5,742.2 MW.
Modernization work on Unit No. 4 was completed at the end of December 2025. As part of the steam power unit upgrade, Unipro plans to modernize seven power units with a capacity of over 800 MW each by 2029. To date, three of the seven units at Surgut GRES-2 have already been modernized.
For the remaining four power units, the company signed equipment supply contracts with Silovye mashiny. As previously noted by Unipro, modernization of Power Unit No. 2 will begin in 2026.
