The modernized fourth power unit of Surgut GRES-2, owned by Unipro, has begun supplying electric power to the wholesale market. This was reported by the System Operator.
During the modernization, key elements of the equipment were replaced on the unit, which made it possible to improve its technical and economic indicators and reliability. The installed capacity of the power unit increased by 20 MW to 830 MW. The total installed capacity of the station reached 5,742.2 MW.
Work on the modernization of unit No. 4 was completed at the end of December 2025. As part of the renovation of steam power plants, Unipro plans to modernize seven power units with a capacity of over 800 MW each by 2029. To date, three of the seven units of Surgut GRES-2 have already been modernized.
For the remaining four power units, the company has concluded contracts for the supply of equipment with Power Machines. As previously noted in Unipro, the modernization of power unit No. 2 will start in 2026.
