In Khakassia, a rail burst on the Nanchul — Biskamzha stretch due to abnormal frosts, causing a delay of six freight trains. This was reported by the Deputy Head of the region, Dmitry Buchenik.
Rail traffic on the section has been suspended, and track restoration is underway. Buchenik clarified that the rail cracked on the stretch in the Askizsky district specifically due to the frost.
The Deputy Head of the region also reported other consequences of the cold weather: a pipe burst on the cold water supply networks in Abakan, and an emergency power outage occurred in Chernogorsk, affecting 1050 houses in the private sector.
Temperatures of up to minus 40–45°C are forecast in the region, with frosty fog and icy conditions expected in some places. A storm warning has been issued, valid until Tuesday, January 20, inclusive.
