Aerospace Forces' Space Troops Use Satellites to Provide Information to Soldiers

The Space Troops of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) conducted approximately 500,000 spacecraft control sessions in 2025. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Duty forces performed more than 125,000 sessions to support spacecraft control.

Tasks of the Space Troops of the Russian Aerospace Forces:

  • launching spacecraft into orbit
  • controlling military and dual-purpose satellites
  • providing troops with necessary information

The department added that the development of ground-based space control facilities is underway. Specialists are also creating new command and measurement systems for the Titov Main Test Space Center (located in the Moscow region). Here, flight control of spacecraft of the Russian orbital group is carried out.
