Russian scientists are developing an enzymatic test system for rapid cancer detection. Its production may be launched within three years, according to Lyudmila Tekutyeva, Director of the Advanced Engineering School (AES) of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU).
According to Tekutyeva, researchers at AES, together with colleagues from the Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, have found marine microorganisms, bacteria, that produce alkaline phosphatase enzymes. These organic substances are suitable for creating express tests for cancer detection.
Preclinical trials are currently underway and are scheduled to be completed within two years.
Scientists are developing a complete production cycle for the test system, including the synthesis of enzymes. After successful clinical trials, its production will begin.
