Tesla Cybertruck in Russian? A Russo-Balt prototype spotted in Perm

The vehicle combines aggressive design and the dimensions of commercial transport - engineers hint at ambitious plans

At the end of December, an unusual vehicle was spotted on the streets of Perm, visually resembling the Tesla Cybertruck, but significantly surpassing it in size — up to the dimensions of a GAZelle commercial van. According to eyewitnesses, on December 27 the vehicle was being transported on a tow truck in the area of the Railway Workers' House of Culture (DKZh), and later it was found near an office building where, according to available information, the project's development team is located.

Perm. A vehicle visually resembling the Tesla Cybertruck

If you look closely at the photographs, the \"Russo-Balt\" logos and the inscription \"Russian electric vehicles\" are clearly visible on the body of the vehicle.

The history of the \"Russo-Balt\" brand dates back to 1869, when production of not only railcars but also automobiles began at the Russo-Baltic Carriage Works in Riga. The chief designer of the first cars was Swiss engineer Julien Potter, and a Belgian Fondue automobile was taken as the basis for the prototype. At the beginning of the 20th century, the plant's most mass-produced model was a car 4.25 meters long with a top speed of 70 km/h — about 350 units were produced in total, and they were actively used both in the tsarist army and in motorsport.

It is noted that the revival of the brand in the era of the mass transition to electric vehicles may be an attempt to create a domestic alternative to foreign electric cars. However, so far no official statements from the project's representatives, technical specifications, or plans for mass production have been released.
