Arc 7 class tanker built in Russia for the first time

The large-capacity LNG carrier "Alexey Kosygin" of Arc 7 class left the bay of Bolshoy Kamen (Primorsky Krai) and headed for its first voyage along the Northern Sea Route to work within the framework of the "Arctic LNG-2" project. This was reported by the press service of Sovcomflot.

"Alexey Kosygin" is the lead vessel in a series of new generation Arctic gas carriers being built at the Zvezda shipbuilding complex. This is the first LNG carrier built in Russia.

The vessel belongs to the Arc 7 ice class and is capable of operating in Arctic conditions, independently overcoming ice more than two meters thick. The capacity of each tanker exceeds 172 thousand cubic meters of LNG.

The gas carrier is also equipped with three rudder propellers manufactured at the Sapphire plant. The length of the vessel is 300 m, the width is 48.8 m, and the deadweight is 81 thousand tons.

The power of the gas carrier's power plant reaches 60 MW.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the first Russian LNG carrier "Alexey Kosygin" of Arc7 class completed sea trials.
