Assembly of Soyuz-5 Rocket Completed at Baikonur

An in-depth testing program is being conducted at the launch complex

The assembly of the new Russian medium-class launch vehicle Soyuz-5 has been successfully completed at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The rocket and ground equipment are fully prepared for the first launch. The implementation of the joint Russian-Kazakh project "Baiterek" has reached its final stage.

An in-depth testing program is currently underway at the launch complex. Specialists are checking the reliability of all systems, simulating both standard and non-standard situations.

Soyuz-5 is a two-stage rocket with a block diameter of 4.1 meters, which will be able to put up to 17 tons of payload into low Earth orbit - twice as much as its predecessor, the Soyuz-2. The cost of launching a kilogram of payload will be 300 thousand rubles, and the development is being carried out by the Progress Rocket and Space Center.
