Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket to launch 52 satellites into orbit from Vostochny Cosmodrome on December 28

Among the spacecraft are Aist-2T No. 1 and No. 2

The launch of 52 satellites (including Aist-2T No. 1 and No. 2) on the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket is scheduled from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. The launch will take place on December 28, the press service of Roscosmos State Corporation reported.

The Aist-2T satellites were created on the basis of the Aist-2D spacecraft, but have a number of differences. These include a power plant for orbit correction and equipment for stereoscopic imaging.

The Aist-2T spacecraft also transmit information faster and have a longer service life. The main function of the satellites is to form a stereoscopic three-dimensional map of the Earth. It is necessary for solving the current tasks of Roscosmos State Corporation, Roskartografiya, Rosreestr and the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

The satellites are designed to fly in the altitude range of 350 – 500 km. The service life of spacecraft is at least five years.
