Technological Modernization of Elections: CEC to Combine Traditional and Remote Voting

ЦИК сохранит привычные избирательные участки, процесс на участках будет усовершенствован

CEC Head Ella Pamfilova stated that voting at polling stations will be maintained in the 2026 State Duma elections. She announced this on December 23, 2025, in an interview with the Russia-24 TV channel.

According to Pamfilova, remote electronic voting will be conducted in parallel with traditional voting. She emphasized that there are no plans to abandon stationary voting, and the process at the stations will be improved and modernized.

At the same time, Russians will be able to use remote electronic voting (DEG), for which the CEC will create the necessary conditions for combining it with the traditional method of voting.

Earlier, the head of the presidential administration for monitoring and analyzing social processes, Alexander Kharichev, reported that the upcoming elections may take place over three days. He noted that DEG will take place in approximately half of the regions where there is experience in its use, and emphasized that the electoral process will be focused on the safety and convenience of the CEC.
