Specialists from the National Research University "MPEI" have developed and implemented a new state standard GOST R 72176-2025, which regulates the level of harmonic distortion and current imbalance in medium and high voltage networks. This is reported by the press service of the university.
The standard is designed to control the quality of electricity generated during the operation of industrial equipment: electric railways, arc furnaces, power converters and other large devices. It allows identifying sources of power quality degradation and planning measures to suppress interference even at the stage of connecting new industrial facilities.
The GOST will be applied by network companies, consumers, supervisory and design organizations. Software and measuring systems will be able to assess the harmonic components and the reverse sequence components of the current, which will help to improve the reliability and efficiency of power systems.
