The Russian Armed Forces could drastically strengthen their air defense if they purchase S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) supplied to China. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Military Informant."
The authors recalled that from 1993 to 2010, under export contracts, China received 8 divisions of S-300PMU, 12 divisions of S-300PMU-1, and 16 divisions of S-300PMU-2. In total, this amounts to 36 divisions.
However, these systems are no longer the only and indispensable means of ensuring air security in China, as China is creating a unified automated air defense system that covers all aspects.
Repurchasing S-300s from China at a reduced price would immediately provide a lot of combat capabilities in a relatively short time. If the opportunity to acquire the "three-hundreds" in China still exists, then it is probably worth taking advantage of it.
About the S-300 SAM
The SAM was developed within the walls of NPO "Almaz" (part of the "Almaz-Antey" Concern). From 1967 to 2005, more than 10 different modifications of the S-300 were produced. Depending on the version, the range of target engagement varies from 5 to 150 km. At the same time, the systems can strike targets moving at a speed of 1300–2800 m/s.
