"Black boxes" for audio recording may be introduced in maternity hospitals in Russia

The equipment will record the situation in the delivery room to resolve disputes

In Russia, perinatal centers may be required to introduce audio recording in delivery rooms. State Duma deputy Ksenia Goryacheva sent a corresponding proposal to Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.

I propose to introduce mandatory installation of sound recording equipment and audio recording (analogous to a "black box" in airplanes) in delivery rooms.

The system can record the situation during childbirth. It can serve as a tool to protect the rights of women in labor or medical personnel (doctors, obstetricians) in case of conflict situations.

The data should be stored for a year on a service that is not subordinate to the Ministry of Health of Russia or other medical institutions. If a medical worker is accused of misconduct, the recording will be included in the evidence base for making a fair decision, the deputy summarized.
