The National Payment Card System (NSPK), which manages Mir cards, has announced plans to introduce offline payment for goods using a QR code generated on the client's mobile device in 2026. This was announced by Nikita Chukhachev, Head of Development of the Faster Payments System (FPS).
According to him, next year NSPK will focus on two key areas. The first of these, offline payment, will be relevant in the absence of an Internet connection. Clients will receive a limited number of QR codes for making payments, which will be downloaded to the device when connected to the network.
When using offline QR codes, several important requirements will be established: the validity period of the code will be limited, and it will not be able to be downloaded, and the payment amount will be limited to 3 thousand rubles. QR codes will be updated automatically when the device is reconnected to the Internet.
Chukhachev also announced plans to integrate the client's QR code with loyalty programs of commercial enterprises in 2026.
