The frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov" (Project 1155) and the integrated supply vessel "Boris Butoma" (Project 1559-V "Morskoy prostor") of the Pacific Fleet entered the Red Sea. The ships set off on a long voyage to the Asia-Pacific region in early October, the fleet's press service reported.

As explained in the press service of the Pacific Fleet, the ships passed through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and entered the Red Sea. Prior to this, the crews of the frigate and tanker conducted a series of exercises in the Gulf of Aden. The fleet does not disclose the tasks of the ship group in the World Ocean.

About the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov"

The large anti-submarine ship (BPC) is named after Marshal of the Soviet Union Boris Shaposhnikov. It was built in Kaliningrad at the "Yantar" shipyard. The ship has been in operation since 1986 as part of the Pacific Fleet.

In 2016, as part of a large-scale modernization, "Marshal Shaposhnikov" was reclassified as a frigate. It received "Kalibr-NK" and "Uran" missiles. In 2021, the ship returned to the fleet.
