Court Establishes Responsibility of the Russian Ministry of Defense for the Emergency with a Combat Aircraft in Yeysk

The Krasnodar Regional Court changed the decision on the claim of a family from Yeysk who suffered from the crash of a fourth-generation Su-34 bomber on a residential building. The court of first instance ordered compensation to be recovered only from the FKU "Joint Strategic Command of the Eastern Military District".

By the latest decision, the regional court established the subsidiary liability of the Russian Ministry of Defense, stating that the department must be liable for the obligations of subordinate structures.

As a reminder, the plane crash in Yeysk occurred on October 17, 2022, when a Su-34 crashed into a nine-story residential building. Then 16 people died and about 50 more suffered burns.

Su-34 is a supersonic fighter-bomber of front-line aviation, developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. The combat aircraft is capable of accelerating to 1900 km/h (1.8 M).
