The Siberian Chemical Combine (SCC) in Seversk has put the first block of high-performance 9+ generation gas centrifuges into commercial operation. This event marks another stage in the large-scale modernization of uranium enrichment infrastructure as part of Rosatom's strategy to improve the efficiency and technological independence of the nuclear fuel cycle.
The updated equipment is already successfully operating at the SCC isotope separation plant, demonstrating a significant increase in productivity and energy efficiency compared to previous generations of centrifuges.
SCC has become the third of the four largest enrichment enterprises of the state corporation to implement new generation installations. Similar projects were previously implemented at the Ural Electrochemical Combine (Sverdlovsk Region) and the Electrochemical Plant (Krasnoyarsk Territory) - since 2018.
In the near future, the technical re-equipment will also affect the last of the key assets of the industry - the Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Combine (Irkutsk Region).
The complete replacement of equipment at all four sites will allow Rosatom not only to maintain but also to strengthen its position in the global market for uranium enrichment services.
Siberian Chemical Combine (SCC) is a nuclear industry enterprise in Seversk, Tomsk Region. It is part of the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom State Corporation.
