PJSC RusHydro is considering attracting Chinese companies to implement a key project in the field of geothermal energy - the construction of Mutnovskaya GeoPP-2 in Kamchatka. This was reported by the company following its participation in the Russian-Chinese Energy Business Forum, where the Russian delegation discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources.
To date, three geothermal power plants with a total installed capacity of 74 MW are already operating in Kamchatka. As part of the current stage of industry development, a binary power unit of the Skalnaya GeoPP, located in the immediate vicinity of the operating Mutnovskaya GeoPP-1, is being jointly designed with Chinese partners. Its design capacity will be 16.5 MW.
At the same time, the company's experts are studying options for technological and investment cooperation with Chinese players for the implementation of Mutnovskaya GeoPP-2 - a station that, according to the developers, should become a flagship project not only for the Russian, but also for the global geothermal energy industry. The new facility involves the introduction of advanced solutions in the field of binary cycles and sustainable energy supply to remote regions.
