Manufacturer of the Burevestnik missile uses German machine tools

OKB Novator is looking for new specialists

The Novator Experimental Design Bureau (OKB) from Yekaterinburg, the developer of the latest Burevestnik missiles with a nuclear power plant, uses German lathes in its production of the GDW and Weiler brands. This follows from the description of the vacancy posted on a recruiting website.

The candidate is required to be able to work on GDW Lz 280 and Weiler DA 260 screw-cutting lathes. Other criteria include more than three years of experience and the ability to read drawings.

The GDW LZ 280 machine is designed for high-precision processing of metal workpieces, including turning, threading and hole processing.

Weiler DA 260 is suitable for both the manufacture of individual parts and for small-scale production, ensuring high quality processing in accordance with accuracy standards.

Recall that Novator's work on Burevestnik became known back in 2018. Tests of the cruise missile were completed at the end of October 2025, during the tests, the ammunition was in the air for about 15 hours and traveled 14 thousand km.

Theoretically, due to the nuclear installation on board, the Burevestnik can circumnavigate the entire Earth several times.

Novator's other products include cruise, anti-submarine and anti-aircraft missiles, missile systems, and self-propelled launchers.
