Small technology companies (STCs) are actively developing in Russia. There are already about 5.5 thousand such enterprises in the country, and their number is growing, said Vladimir Kravchenko, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy.
According to him, the authorities have introduced various STC support tools. Companies can apply to regional industrial development funds (IDFs), as well as become residents of technology parks. Cluster development is popular among drone and electronics developers, the senator added.
We will continue this work in order to remove excessive burdens and create conditions for sustainable growth of the business environment in Russia.
About the status of STC
Russian companies can obtain STC status under Law No. 478-FZ if their revenue is from 100 million to 4 billion rubles per year, and their main activity is related to manufacturing, information and communication, science, healthcare, etc.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the most popular areas of STC activity:
- artificial intelligence
- processing and storage of big data
- intelligent control systems
- engineering complexes
- software development tools
Most STCs are registered in Moscow (45%), St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, the Moscow region and the Sverdlovsk region.
