At the "Roscosmos" enterprise — at the Academician V. P. Makeev State Rocket Center — an expanded meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council was held to review and defend the final materials and results of the "Korona" research work to confirm the key technologies for creating a fully reusable launch vehicle. The test results and calculations confirmed the feasibility of the project.
The innovative "Korona" rocket will be able to provide space services such as rapid satellite deployment, return of damaged or obsolete spacecraft to Earth, flight from point A to point B to deliver cargo in minutes or transport people over intercontinental distances.
Main advantages of "Korona":
- high launch rates;
- low cost of payload deployment;
- ability not only to deploy but also to return cargo from orbit;
- no need to allocate fall areas;
- flights along the "point-to-point" trajectory;
- preservation of cargo in emergency situations.
The project will allow Russia to ensure independent access to space, as well as enter the global market of space services.
According to the creators, development work will begin in 2026.
