Hilux in Russian: JAC T9 Pickup Assembly Launched in Ulyanovsk Alongside Sollers ST9

Local Assembly Fact Confirmed by VIN Plate

Production of JAC T9 pickups has started at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, assembled in parallel with the structurally identical Sollers ST9. This was confirmed by sources from the "Chinese Automobiles" publication. The fact of local assembly is also confirmed by the VIN plate published by blogger Sergei Nikolaev: it indicates that the car was produced in Russia.

The production is carried out by the company "Automobile Industrial Technologies" (AIT), founded by PJSC "Sollers" back in 2011. The company is registered in the Ulyanovsk region, where the current production is established.

According to dealers, the first Russian JAC T9s have already appeared on sale, retaining all the technical characteristics and equipment of the original Chinese version.

The JAC T9 is built on a frame platform and uses a proven chassis design: independent double-wishbone front suspension and a solid rear axle on leaf springs — similar to the legendary Toyota Hilux. The SUV is equipped with 2.0-liter engines — a 224 hp gasoline engine and a 163 hp diesel engine. Both work with an 8-speed automatic transmission and подключаемым all-wheel drive. Prices for Russian-made models start from 3.6 million rubles.

The local JAC T9s do not differ from the original Chinese cars either externally or technically. This allows the manufacturer to quickly enter the market without additional adaptation costs, while providing dealers with stable supplies.
